Guided Multi-Pitch Climbing Itinerary
A guided multi-pitch climbing day in the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland typically begins with meeting your guide at the Cairngorm Mountain Car Park and follows with a briefing, we will go over the day’s itinerary – chat with you about your prior experience and aims for the day before detailing the plan and ensuring this fits with what you want to do. After this, participants will set off on a short hike to the base of the chosen climb likely in Sneachda or Lothian around 1-1.5 hours walk into the mountain corries.. Along the way, the guide will share information about the area’s history and ecology and point out many of the climbing routes from afar as we begin to see them, adding depth to the overall experience.
Once at the base of the climb, participants will receive a refresher on climbing and belay techniques as well as communication before beginning the ascent. Throughout the climb, the guide will provide personalised instruction and feedback chatting with you throughout to ensure you are always aware of what is coming up next. We will constantly be helping participants build their skills and confidence. Depending on the chosen route, participants will likely take short breaks on belay ledges to rest and take in the breathtaking scenery.
Upon reaching the summit, participants will have the chance to take in panoramic views of the surrounding landscape before beginning the descent. This may involve abseiling down the climb (depending on which one we choose), allowing for a unique and thrilling experience; or it may involve walking off or scrambling down the iconic Fiacaill Ridge. After a full day of climbing, participants will return to the starting point, where they will have the chance to debrief with the guide and reflect on the day’s achievements.
