Climb Scotland YCS Sponsorship

Climb Scotland YCS Competition Sponsorship

We are proud at Highland Outdoor Adventures to again provide sponsorship for the Climb Scotland Youth climbing (YCS) completion series prizes for the young people aged between 8 and 18.  The YCS is part of the overall UK completion series where the strongest young people come together to have some fun and compete against each other bouldering, bottom rope climbing and lead climbing – from the competitions, development teams and national teams are selected to represent Scotland and the UK. Quite literally Climb Scotland support and develop the best young climbers in Scotland! It is a pleasure to be able help sponsor prizes for such amazing young climbers.

The competitions are split into 5 categories from youth E to A male and female and we are sponsoring prizes for the winner of each category, so 10 prizes on offer in total. The prizes are really straight forward – it is a completely free selection of a day/course of climbing in either summer or winter at the winners choosing based around their age, experience, aims, aspirations and course strength (although the latter is a bit irrelevant as even the youngest of them are probably climbing up into the 7’s on Sport climbs already!). Jim (company director) will personally take each day/course and hopefully help inspire, develop and continue helping the climbers to realise their climbing adventures/dreams which is really what Climb Scotland hope to achieve overall.

Previous prizes have ranged from single days winter climbing to guided sea stack odyssey courses. The courses are delivered by Jim due to his experience having competed himself as an adult on occasion – he in fact was one of the individuals who set up the entire southern university climbing competition series many years ago and because he holds the WMCI (highest possible climbing qualification to attain in the UK), has on-sighted E7 trad routes, 7c+/8a sport routes, Font 7c boulders, grade VIII winter routes and E4 solos which all allow him to be able to relate to the strong climbers who have won their prizes.
