Examples of climbing adventures that Jim is offering you to select from are as follows – each winner can only select one prize each and winners are encouraged to attend days with a friend or family member to be social – the prize applies to 2 people.
Climbing options:
- Introduction to outdoor climbing courses – these are primarily focused around seconding lots of trad routes and just getting loads of mileage in but if appropriate lead climbing opportunities may be offered on the day. Similar to the Reel Rock sessions Climb Scotland do.
- Guided Multi pitch climbing courses – these can take place at a variety of venues appropriate to different abilities and aims like Polldubh, Ardverikie wall, Cairngorm or Ben Nevis.
- Learn to lead outdoor climbing – depending on prior experience this can take place on sport or trad, single or multi pitch (trad).
- Guided sea stack climbing – some of the most amazing and adventurous climbing out there climbing pillars of rock separated from the mainland like the Old Man of Stoer, Am Buachaille or The Old Man of Hoy.
- Winter climbing – climbing with two axes and crampons on rock, snow & ice – truly the most adventurous and amazing climbing.
The prize can be booked directly below inputting the promo code presented to you when you win. This code will remove 100% of the cost price. It would be advisable to discuss with Jim what you would like to do and your prior experience if you are not already 100% sure and he can help steer appropriate adventures and answer any questions you have.
Again main congratulations and Climb Scotland look forward to hearing about your outdoor climbing adventure once you have it. p.s.
A brief bit of information about Jim and Highland Outdoor Adventures/how this came about as below in case you are interested: Highland Outdoor Adventures was founded by Jim Miller to share his love and passion for the outdoors. Jim has spent the last 13 years working in outdoor pursuits in Scotland and has the privilege of being certified in a huge range of Sports. He has taught thousands of individuals to climb and trained and assessed hundreds of climbing instructors over the years. He holds the highest UK qualification for climbing – the WMCI and has previously climbed E7 trad routes, grade VIII winter routes, 7c+/8a sport routes and font 7c boulder problems as well as even setting up a first ascent on a 1500m 40 pitch long climb. Although, previous grade pushing now means little to him and he truly just loves climbing and helping develop a passion for climbing within others and seeing them excel.
Highland Outdoor Adventures holds an AALA license meaning it can provide outdoor adventures to young people and has been approved and checked by inspectors on behalf of HSE to do so. As well as holding the prestigious 5 star Visit Scotland Outdoor Activity provider award.
While assessing an individual from Climb Scotland for his Rock Climbing Instructor in 2023 Jim had a conversation with him regarding the competitions from an assessment standpoint and in the conversation he learned that you previously won nothing. Jim never competed as a child but did on occasion as an adult and would always win something so felt it right you do as well and wanted the prizes to be a way of inspiring you all for outdoor climbing! 2 years ago the winners climbed sea stacks and winter climbs in the Cairngorm’s, last year included sea stacks, learn to lead courses and guided multi pitch courses – what will you pick?
Obviously the weather can have an impact on outdoor climbing so courses may get altered to accommodate for rain/snow/sea states if so discussions will be had in advance to find the best option to suit both parties. Accommodation and travel costs will not be included – the prize is for the activity itself we will not cover you getting to, from or staying overnight wherever you do the activity.
This is Valid only for 2025/2026 and Jim books up long in advance so it is highly advisable to contact him soon – if you leave it for a long period of time there is no guarantee available dates will suit you!
