Cairngorm Classic Rock Routes
The one-day classic Cairngorm rock climbing routes course in the Cairngorms, Scotland, is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to climb some of the most iconic routes in the region. The course will be led by experienced climbing instructors (members of AMI), who will guide participants through a selection of classic routes, providing instruction on technique, route finding, removing climbing gear, belaying, stance management and many more. Participants will have the opportunity to climb routes such as Fingers Ridge, savage slit, fallout corner, magic crack or many other options on a variety of different crags (selected on the day based off the weather and abilities/aims) like Sneachda, Lothian, Shelterstone, Stag Rocks and Hell’s Lum. The course is suitable for climbers of all levels and provides an excellent opportunity to explore the stunning rock climbing terrain of the Cairngorms. All the routes are multi-pitch so provide a truly adventurous day out climbing in some stunning terrain.
Cairngorm Classic Rock Routes Itinerary
The one-day classic Cairngorm rock climbing routes course in the Cairngorms, Scotland, is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to climb some of the most iconic routes in the region. The course will begin with meeting your instructor who will have chat with you regarding what your aims for the course are and then tailor the day accordingly by selecting a route to match your ability and aspirations. On route, you will gain instruction on climbing techniques, equipment selection, and route finding as well as belaying and removing gear. Participants may have the opportunity to climb a selection of classic routes under the guidance of the instructors or one longer route depending on how quickly they climb.
The routes chosen for the day will be tailored to the experience and skill level of the group. The day will conclude with a debrief and discussion of the day’s experiences, providing an opportunity for participants to ask questions and provide feedback. Overall, the course offers a unique opportunity to explore the stunning rock climbing terrain of the Cairngorms while developing climbing skills and knowledge under the guidance of experienced instructors. Routes we may do would be things akin to savage slit, fallout corner, magic crag, fingers ridge or many other options.
We pride ourselves on providing as much kit as possible for you. However, the list below is what we recommend you should bring to your Cairngorms Classic Rock Routes Course:
- Travel insurance. (We are insured for all our trips, but we recommend everyone has their own travel insurance as well.)
- Lunch, water.
- Personal medication
- Sun cream, midge net
- Waterproofs (it is Scotland after all)
- Sturdy footwear.
- climbing shoes, harness, helmet (if you prefer to use your own as opposed to what we supply).
Here at Highland Outdoor Adventures, we pride ourselves on providing as much as we can but you are welcome to bring your own equipment if you do prefer. The list below is what we provide you with on the day.
